Awards go to the Best Green Inventors in Toronto

by admin on August 2, 2010

The competition for the green innovation award has reached its results and declares three winners. At the Green Living Show held at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibiton Place, the mayor, deputy mayor and CityNews meteorologist declared the winners of this prestige award on April 23. Each of the innovators were handed the prestigious Green Toronto Award and they will share a $50,000 prize.

However, it was not the award to drive the young scientist and innovators, but the purpose to help our environment. There were some very interesting solutions and improvements put forward by all the finalists. The brief for these inventors was to find real time, affordable solutions, therefore you may see these inventions readily available to purchase soon.

The three winners are listed below:

* Olivier Trescases, PhD and Chris Lea, with Green Gym: An exercise fitness centre that is specially built to take energy and send it to the grid.

* Sarah Lazarovic and her submission GreenHouseTO; For those Toronto people that are interested in Toronto buildings comes a well thought out web and mobile renovation application.

* Robert Kori Golding, for his submission My Green City, a cross-platform game for the iPhone and Facebook. You get points for carrying out real-life green tasks (planting a tree, reducing waste) and spend them on your virtual town.

Green is always top!

Community Projects Award, Energy Conservation Award, Environmental Awareness Award and 6 more presentations, were announced; as well as these awards. Charities also were helped, as all finalists received a prize of $5,000 each to share with them.
